Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is special about the Filler Academy?

The aim is to provide colleagues with theory and practice on Botox & Filler treatments on a very special scale. Nowadays, books, the Internet and videos offer a good opportunity to acquire knowledge – also in aesthetic medicine. However, these cannot replace practical application under the guidance of experienced colleagues. The focus of our Botox and filler courses is hands-on. You as a participant will perform Botox and filler treatments yourself in the course.

General information on the use of botulinum toxin and fillers

The use of Botox, fillers and the like falls under the term “aesthetic treatment” pursuant to Section 3 (1) (2) of the Federal Act on the Performance of Aesthetic Treatments and Operations (ÄsthOpG). According to § 4 para 2, such activities are to be qualified as medical activities within the meaning of § 2 para 2 Medical Act 1998.

In addition to the general requirements and registration in the list of physicians, the following special requirements must be met in order to carry out these activities pursuant to § 4 of the Physicians Act 1998:

  1. a doctorate in medicine from a university in the Republic of Austria or an equivalent academic degree obtained abroad and nostrified in Austria as a doctorate in medicine, and
  2. with regard to training as a general practitioner or specialist of a diploma on special training in general medicine or a specialist diploma issued by the Austrian Medical Association pursuant to § 15 para. 1

or alternatively instead of the corresponding evidence according to 1. and 2.

  1. a corresponding professional qualification pursuant to § 5 or § 5a of the Medical Act 1998 (i.e. foreign medical qualifications);

Provided the above requirements are met, no specialty is excluded from performing these treatments. Under certain conditions, dentists could also perform these, for example as additional specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery with simultaneous additional entry in the list of physicians.

The use of botulinum toxin is prohibited to the following group of people, although this list can of course be extended. This group is also not allowed to participate in our trainings.

  • Dentists without ius practicandi or additional residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery with simultaneous additional registration in the list of physicians,
  • Medical students,
  • Beauticians and
  • Alternative practitioners.

Participation is, of course, allowed to those physicians who are also licensed to use it in their own practice, as described in the question earlier. Dentists, physicians and specialists in training can also take part in the training, as the practical part takes place under the supervision of a plastic surgeon specialist.

How does a filleracademy course work?

Our Botox & Hyaluronic Acid courses are each divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the mode of action and application of Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers as well as important anatomical knowledge are taught. Basic anatomical knowledge is important in all treatments because the more you know, the more confident you will be in using it. In the practical part you treat yourself – therefore we ask you to bring your own model. The model time will be communicated to you by mail approximately 1 week before the course starts.
